A bright, rounded bouquet of ylang-ylang, rose and jasmine, blended so smoothly that no single flower takes over. It’s luminous and polished, with a soft, slightly fruity warmth.
J’adore notes
Brand description Source: Dior.
- Listed notes
- ylang-ylang, damask rose, Grasse jasmine, jasmine sambac
Dior now names only these four flowers, with ylang-ylang in the opening. The 1999 launch pyramid listed on Fragrantica is much longer: pear, melon, magnolia, peach, mandarin and bergamot on top; jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, tuberose, freesia, rose, orchid, violet and plum in the heart; musk, vanilla, cedar and blackberry in the base.
How long J’adore lasts, and how it wears
Editorial inference Typical figures, not our own timing.
- How long it lasts
- 6–8 hours
- Projection
- Noticeable for the first two to three hours, then a soft floral trail close to the skin
- Season
- All year; at its brightest in spring and summer
- Best for
- Office, daytime, weddings and dressier occasions
- How much to spray
- 2–3 sprays
Based on the Eau de Parfum concentration, the musky, woody base in the launch pyramid, and wear reports on Basenotes and Fragrantica, which mostly describe a full working day with moderate sillage, though some reviewers get less. Skin, climate and how much you spray all move these numbers, which is one more reason to try a sample before a bottle.

Which J’adore is which?
Editorial inference
Dior sells several fragrances under the J’adore name, and they aren’t simply stronger or weaker copies of one scent. The Eau de Parfum, this page, is the 1999 original and the one most people mean when they say J’adore. If you’ve smelled it on someone else, this is almost certainly the version to sample first.
For something richer, L’Or de J’adore (2023) and J’adore Intense (2026), both by Francis Kurkdjian, are the two to try. L’Or is a denser floral of orange blossom, jasmine and rose; Intense goes warmer and sweeter, with apricot and honey. For something lighter, the Eau de Toilette leans on neroli and citrus, while Parfum d’Eau is alcohol-free and noticeably softer.
Older names you may still find online, such as L’Absolu, Absolu and Infinissime, are no longer part of Dior’s US line-up. Each was its own composition, so treat a discounted bottle as a different perfume rather than a cheaper route to the Eau de Parfum.
Versions of J’adore
The same name covers several different perfumes. Here is how they relate, so you sample the right one.
| Version | Launched | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| J’adore Eau de ParfumCalice Becker | 1999 | This page. The original: a smooth, sunny bouquet of ylang-ylang, rose and jasmine. |
| L’Or de J’adoreFrancis Kurkdjian | 2023 | A richer Essence de Parfum built on orange blossom, jasmine and rose absolutes. It replaces the earlier J’adore L’Or (first launched in 2010 by François Demachy), which had a warmer vanilla and tonka base. |
| J’adore IntenseFrancis Kurkdjian | 2026 | A Parfum that pushes J’adore towards honey: apricot on top, then jasmine, rose and ylang-ylang over sandalwood, vanilla and honey. Sweeter and warmer than the Eau de Parfum. |
| J’adore Parfum d’Eau | 2022 | An alcohol-free, water-based version with neroli, jasmine sambac and magnolia. Fresher and greener; many wearers find it sits closer to the skin than the Eau de Parfum. |
| J’adore Eau de ToiletteFrançois Demachy | 2016 | The lighter version, built around neroli, blood orange and rose. It launched as J’adore Eau Lumière and is now sold simply as the Eau de Toilette; Dior’s first J’adore EDT dates from 2002. |
| J’adore InfinissimeFrançois Demachy | 2020 | A creamier, tuberose-led Eau de Parfum with a sandalwood base. No longer shown in Dior’s US J’adore line-up, though some retailers still stock it. |
| J’adore L’AbsoluFrançois Demachy | 2007 | A richer, more floral take on the original, later followed by J’adore Absolu (2018). Neither is part of Dior’s current US line-up. |

J’adore questions
Is J’adore or Miss Dior better?
Neither is better; they’re built for different moods. J’adore is a sunny, rounded bouquet of ylang-ylang, rose and jasmine where no single flower takes over. Miss Dior is rose-led, and Dior reworked the Miss Dior Eau de Parfum in 2026 into a warmer, creamier scent with vanilla, tonka and sandalwood. If you want a bright, polished floral, start with J’adore; if you want something sweeter and cosier, sample Miss Dior next to it.
Is J’adore good for everyday?
Yes, it’s one of the easier big florals to wear every day. It’s smooth rather than sharp, so it suits the office and daytime as well as occasions. It is an Eau de Parfum with real presence, though, so two sprays is usually enough for work; save three for evenings out.
What does J’adore smell like after an hour?
After an hour, expect the bright, slightly fruity opening to have settled into the floral heart: ylang-ylang, rose and jasmine blended into one warm, creamy bouquet. It feels softer and more skin-like than the first spray. Later in the day, most people describe a gentle musky floral that stays close to the skin.
How long does J’adore last?
Most people get six to eight hours from the Eau de Parfum, with the strongest trail in the first two or three hours. Wear reports vary more than usual: some reviewers say it lasts all day, while others get only a few hours on dry skin. Spraying on moisturised skin or on clothes usually helps.
Which J’adore is the strongest?
The richest versions are L’Or de J’adore, sold as an Essence de Parfum, and J’adore Intense, a Parfum. Both are denser and warmer than the Eau de Parfum rather than just louder. The Eau de Toilette and the alcohol-free Parfum d’Eau are the lightest.
