Who we are
Worth a Spray (worthaspray.com) is run by C. Kerger, San Francisco, California, USA. For anything about this policy or your data, contact us at info@worthaspray.com.
What we collect
There are no accounts, sign-up forms or newsletters on the site. The only time we ask for personal information is when you choose to send us a message through our contact form, described below.
Like almost every website, the server that hosts Worth a Spray automatically records technical details of each visit in its logs: your IP address, the date and time, the page you asked for, the page that linked you to us, and your browser and device type. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure, for example to fix errors and block abuse.
Contact form
When you send us a message through our contact form, we receive your name, your email address, the topic you chose and your message. Our server saves a copy and forwards it to our email inbox at info@worthaspray.com, which is hosted by our email provider. We use these details only to read and answer your message, and we don’t add you to any mailing list. To ask us to delete a message you sent, email us.
Search
When you search the perfume list, the filtering happens in your own browser, and your search terms aren’t sent to us. If your browser has JavaScript turned off, the search is sent to our server as part of the page address, and so appears in the server logs described above.
Ratings
Perfume pages let you vote on how much you like a perfume and when you’d wear it. When you first vote, your browser keeps a random ID in its local storage so you can change your vote later. It isn’t a cookie and isn’t linked to your name. We store your votes with that ID and a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, which we use only to stop one connection voting many times. We show only the totals. You can take a vote back by clicking it again, or email us to remove it.
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It doesn’t use cookies or build a profile of you across other websites. When a page loads, a small script from Ahrefs records the page you’re viewing, the page that linked you to us, your approximate location (country) and your browser and device type. Ahrefs receives your IP address to do this. Its use of that data is covered by the Ahrefs Privacy Policy.
Cookies and tracking
We don’t set cookies, and we don’t use advertising or social media tracking. The only thing we keep in your browser is the voting ID described under Ratings. If that ever changes, we’ll update this page first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
Other services we use
Our fonts are served by Google Fonts. To load them, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address. Google’s use of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Links from our pages to other websites, such as brand sites, are covered by those sites’ own privacy policies.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing info@worthaspray.com. We’ll reply as soon as we can.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
