What Yum Pistachio Gelato 33 smells like
Editorial inference
It opens like a scoop of pistachio gelato: nutty, creamy and a little green, with hazelnut and a splash of rum. A soft fruity-floral heart of pear, peach and jasmine keeps it from being one-note, and the base is whipped cream, marshmallow and cotton candy over tonka and sandalwood. It’s sweet and playful, but the nuttiness makes it smell more like a gelato shop than a candy store.

Why everyone wanted Pistachio Gelato
Editorial inference
Kayali launched Yum Pistachio Gelato 33 in March 2023, and it became one of the brand’s fastest sellers, helped by social media and by how few big perfumes smelled of pistachio at the time. Mona Kattan, Kayali’s founder, says it was inspired by a pistachio gelato she found in Rome in 2014. The perfumers are Olivier Cresp, known for gourmands like Angel, and his nephew Sébastien Cresp.
Like every Kayali perfume, the number has a meaning: the brand says it took 33 rounds of formulas to get it right. It comes in Kayali’s diamond-shaped bottle, here in frosted pistachio green.
How to wear and layer it
Editorial inference
It’s sweet, so three or four sprays is plenty. It works best on cool days and for casual wear; in the heat, one or two sprays on clothes is safer.
Kayali designs its perfumes to be layered. Under Vanilla 28, Pistachio Gelato gets warmer and more like a nutty vanilla dessert. With a clean musk or a light citrus on top, it reads fresher and more wearable for daytime.
