What Cloud smells like

Editorial inference

The first spray is bright and a little sharp: lavender and bergamot over juicy pear. Within minutes that softens into the part people buy it for, a creamy blend of coconut, praline and vanilla-like sweetness that feels whipped rather than heavy. After an hour or two it settles into a soft, sugary musk that sits close to the skin.

How long Cloud lasts, and how it wears

Editorial inference Typical figures, not our own timing.

How long it lasts
3–6 hours on skin; longer on clothes
Projection
Noticeable for the first hour, then a soft, sweet haze close to the skin
Season
Autumn, winter and cool spring days; light enough for daytime all year
Best for
Everyday wear, school, the office and casual weekends
How much to spray
3–4 sprays

Based on the Eau de Parfum concentration, a light musk and woods base, and wear reports on Fragrantica, where many reviewers get two to four hours on skin but much longer on clothes and scarves. Skin, climate and how much you spray all move these numbers, which is one more reason to try a sample before a bottle.

You might like it if

You like sweet, cosy scents but find the big gourmands too dense, or you want an easy everyday perfume without spending much.

You might skip it if

Sugary scents feel young or cloying to you, or you want a perfume that lasts a full day on skin: Cloud fades faster than most on this site.

The Cloud line, explained

Editorial inference

Cloud is now a small family of perfumes, and the bottles look similar, so check the name before you test. The Eau de Parfum on this page is the 2018 original by Clément Gavarry, and the one people mean when they just say Cloud.

Cloud 2.0 Intense (2021, often listed as Cloud Intense) keeps the same lavender, pear, coconut and praline idea and adds more musk, woods and ambroxan in the base. Most reviewers find it creamier and a little longer-lasting; some can barely tell them apart. If the original fades too fast on you, that’s the one to try next.

Cloud Pink (2023) and Cloud Aurora (2026) are different perfumes, not stronger versions. Pink is fruity, with pineapple, dragon fruit and berries over coconut water and musk. Aurora goes sweeter still, with spun sugar, blackcurrant and vanilla over sandalwood and amber.

Is Cloud a cheaper Baccarat Rouge 540?

Editorial inference

You’ll often see Cloud sold online as a budget version of Baccarat Rouge 540. On paper they have little in common. Cloud is lavender, pear, coconut and praline over musk; Baccarat Rouge 540 is saffron and jasmine over an ambergris accord and a burnt-sugar sweetness.

What they share is an airy, sugary glow that carries a long way, which is why they can seem alike from across a room. Up close, Cloud is creamier and more obviously sweet, and Baccarat Rouge 540 is drier, woodier and more mineral. If you’re choosing between them, sample both on skin rather than trusting either reputation. Our Baccarat Rouge 540 page covers it in the same detail.

Cloud questions

What does Ariana Grande Cloud smell like?

Sweet and fluffy. It opens with lavender, bergamot and juicy pear, then turns into a creamy mix of coconut, praline and vanilla-like sweetness over soft musk. Most people describe it as cosy and clean rather than heavy, like a lighter, airier dessert scent.

How long does Cloud last?

Usually three to six hours on skin, and for many people nearer the lower end. It lasts much longer on clothes, so a spray on a scarf or sweater helps. If you want more staying power, try Cloud 2.0 Intense.

Is Cloud a dupe for Baccarat Rouge 540?

Not really. They share an airy, sugary quality that can seem similar at a distance, but their notes are different: Cloud is coconut, praline and pear, while Baccarat Rouge 540 is saffron, jasmine and ambergris. Up close, Cloud is creamier and sweeter, and Baccarat Rouge 540 is drier and woodier.

Is Cloud good for school or the office?

Yes. It’s soft, friendly and fades to a skin scent within a couple of hours, so it rarely bothers anyone nearby. Three or four sprays is a normal amount; you won’t overdo it easily.

What’s the difference between Cloud and Cloud Pink?

Cloud Pink is a separate, fruitier perfume. It swaps Cloud’s lavender and pear opening for pineapple, dragon fruit and berries, and keeps a milder coconut and musk base. If you like the original for its creamy praline, sample Pink before assuming you’ll like it too.
