What Paradoxe smells like
Editorial inference
It opens with juicy pear, mandarin and bergamot, bright and a little sweet. The heart is neroli and orange blossom with jasmine: a clean, sunny white floral rather than a heavy one. It dries down to a soft amber and vanilla wrapped in white musk, warm and slightly powdery, like clean skin in the sun. It’s smooth throughout, with nothing sharp or loud.

- 6–8 hours
- Projection
- Moderate for the first couple of hours, then a soft musky glow
- Season
- Year-round; best in spring and fall
- Best for
- The office, daytime, dinners and dates
- How much to spray
- 3–4 sprays
Based on the Eau de Parfum concentration and wear reports on Fragrantica, where most wearers describe moderate projection and a full day of wear. Skin, climate and how much you spray all move these numbers, which is one more reason to try a sample before a bottle.
To get more from a bottle, see where to spray and how to make perfume last longer, how to layer it with another scent, and how to store it so it doesn’t go off.

What makes Paradoxe different
Editorial inference
Prada launched Paradoxe in 2022, its first big new women’s line in years, created by three perfumers: Nadège Le Garlantezec, Shyamala Maisondieu and Antoine Maisondieu. It was Prada’s first perfume to use a neroli bud extract, meant to capture the fresher side of the orange flower, alongside two newer materials: Ambrofix, an amber note made by bio-conversion, and Serenolide, a musk that gives a soft but noticeable trail.
The bottle is part of the appeal. It’s shaped like an open version of the Prada triangle logo, and the whole Paradoxe range is refillable, with a 100 ml refill bottle sold separately.
Paradoxe vs Born in Roma
Editorial inference
These two are the women’s perfumes people compare most. Both are modern florals with a warm vanilla-amber base, and both are popular gifts. Paradoxe is built on neroli, orange blossom and amber and reads cleaner and more luminous. Born in Roma Donna is built on jasmine and smoky vanilla and reads warmer, sweeter and louder.
For daytime and the office, try Paradoxe first. For evenings and to be noticed, try Born in Roma.
