What Gentleman Society smells like
Editorial inference
It opens with clean, herbal sage and a cool touch of cardamom. The heart is where it gets interesting: narcissus (wild daffodil), a heady, slightly hay-like flower, over earthy, smoky vetiver. Over time it softens into cedar, sandalwood and a light vanilla that rounds off the edges. It smells refined and grown-up, somewhere between a fresh aromatic and a woody floral.

Based on the Eau de Parfum concentration and a vetiver, wood and vanilla base, and wear reports on Fragrantica, which mostly range from six to eight hours, with longer wear on clothes. Skin, climate and how much you spray all move these numbers, which is one more reason to try a sample before a bottle.

Should you sample it?
Editorial inference
You might like it if
You like vetiver and woody scents but want something smoother and more modern, or you want a dressy cologne that doesn’t smell like every blue scent.
You might skip it if
You want something bright and sporty, or you dislike florals and earthy notes; the Extrême and Ambrée versions are darker and sweeter.
What makes Gentleman Society different
Editorial inference
Givenchy launched Gentleman Society in 2023 as a new line beside its existing Gentleman fragrances. Its unusual idea is the pairing of narcissus, a flower rarely used in men’s scents, with a blend of four vetivers, which Givenchy calls a vetiver quartet.
The result is woodier and more floral than the blue colognes that dominate department-store counters, but still smooth and easy to wear, thanks to the sage up top and the vanilla underneath. The black lacquered bottle with a silver 4G crest also makes it a popular gift.
Original, Extrême or Ambrée?
Editorial inference
The Eau de Parfum on this page is the original. Gentleman Society Extrême (2024) keeps the narcissus and vetiver but adds nutmeg, peppermint and a dark iced-coffee accord, so it’s darker and sweeter. Gentleman Society Ambrée (2025) goes warm, with tobacco, Peru balsam and vanilla.
Pick the original for year-round wear and the office, Extrême or Ambrée for evenings and winter. Don’t confuse it with the older Givenchy Gentleman (2017), a separate, sweeter iris and patchouli scent.

Gentleman Society questions
What does Givenchy Gentleman Society smell like?
Fresh sage and cardamom, then a rich narcissus flower with earthy vetiver, and a smooth base of cedar, sandalwood and vanilla. It’s elegant, woody and lightly floral.
How long does Gentleman Society last?
Most people get six to eight hours, with moderate projection for the first couple of hours. It lasts longer on clothes.
Gentleman Society vs Gentleman Society Extrême: which should I choose?
Choose the original for a versatile, year-round scent that works at the office. Choose Extrême for evenings and cold weather: it adds a dark coffee accord and is sweeter and stronger.
Is Gentleman Society the same as Givenchy Gentleman?
No. Givenchy Gentleman (2017) is a separate line built on iris, patchouli and pear. Gentleman Society (2023) is newer and centers on sage, narcissus and vetiver.
Is Gentleman Society a good gift?
Yes, for someone with grown-up taste who would find the usual blue colognes too familiar. The black bottle looks smart, and Givenchy offers engraving on its own site.
